If you have experience in Multi-Spindle Automatic Screw Machines, CNC Turning Centers, CNC Mills, CNC Swiss Lathes, Hydromats, or 2nd Operations equipment I want to hear from you! My client is a precision machine shop and have been in business for nearly a century. They specialize in prototyping, assembly, laser etching, heat treating, milling, plating, and turning. They serve the transportation – (ground and air), sporting goods, medical, dental, agriculture and several more. Through the years they have kept a competitive edge because of their ability to serve such a vase clientele. This opportunity is unique because of the scope of projects and the versatility of project. They are a high mix and high-volume machine shop. My client has experienced significant growth specifically over the past two years and will be looking to add a top tier CNC Machinist to their team. Position Summary - Under limited to general supervision, creates programs, operates and sets-up a variety of CNC machine tool equipment to proof programs to extremely close and complex tolerances including CNC lathes and other hand and power equipment of similar complexity. Fabricates component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain.

Proof Programs
Read code to detect code errors prior to running to prevent crash moves and incorrect part manufacture
Trouble shoot / error detect programs at machine control
Make Speed/Feed/Tooling recommendations for process improvement / corrective actions
Implements new processes and process improvements with some direction and guidance of the programmer or as programmer, and production and/or engineering manager, proving out these processes.
Responsible for maintaining the operational capability of assigned equipment and processes, including machine calibration.
Works from limited documentation as required.
May provide work guidance to lower level technicians and/or machine operators
Good data management skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office software
Must be able and willing to multi-task and manage time well
Strong desire and mentality for "lights out" machining
Individual must be team oriented, possess a high degree of flexibility, and have a positive attitude

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

Mori Seiki CNC Lathe machines
Fanuc CNC controls.
Swiss CNC Machines – wickman, Mitsubishi,

Ability to:

Analyze existing CNC programs logically and implement improvements.
Operate and perform set-up of complex components on Mori Seiki Lathe,
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, on both technical and nontechnical matters.

General

Uses quality and problem-solving skills to minimize machine downtime, improve process flow.
Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team.
Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).
Problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require. May lead problem-solving activities of team.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships by working cooperatively with others.
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Five years of responsible experience in CNC machining with proven ability to perform complex set-ups independently.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Benefits/Location/Hours of Operation:
Location: Clackamas/ SE Portland
Compensation: DOE - $22 - $27 an hour
Monday – Thursday (4 – 10’s)
Need to be willing to work swing shift or day shift.
