The requirements for the CNC Machinist/Programmer position are as follows:

 

Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required. Formal training in CNC programming is a plus.

 

Experience:

Minimum of three to five years experience as a Machinist preferred plus additional training in CNC programming Specific

 

Technical Knowledge:

Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools Three to five years of experience with CAD/CAM (AutoCAD, Inventor, MasterCam, SmartCAM or equivalent software programs) Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-overs, etc. Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices to inspect components produced Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other team members Willingness to learn and at times teach others

 

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the CNC programming, set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist/programmer spend approximately 30% of his/her time developing CNC programs and approximately 70% of his/her machining parts, also, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs relatively small production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes.
