Commodity Manager

The Commodity Manager is responsible for supporting the North American strategies on contract negotiation, savings and supply base management for all Indirect Purchasing functions. The commodity manager is also responsible for establishing approval guidelines for all purchase orders and makes sure that all purchasing procedures are followed. They also ensure that all purchasing requests are completed in an efficient manner, lead cost reduction initiatives, and oversee inventory management and material budgets.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and implement strategies to create an efficient supply chain and reduce commodity purchase costs.
Defines procedures, practices, processes and contract models to best market standards for each commodity group
Work to minimize supplier risk by establishing strategies for risk evaluation.
Research potential vendors and compare their products, prices, and services.
Negotiate contracts with commodity suppliers and set up terms for prices and delivery.
Conduct analyses of market conditions and trends and use this information to predict future supply needs.

Partners with Senior Management team to align purchasing with the overall business strategy

Essential qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree REQUIRED (Supply Chain or Purchasing preferred)
More than 5 years’ experience in a buying, purchasing, or commodity management role
Experience with Ad Hoc reporting and Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point
Analytical skills with problem solving ability
Ability to work in fast pace environment and to handle large volumes of work.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
