Communications and Media Specialist

Adecco Staffing is currently recruiting for a Communications and Media Specialist for a well-known company in the Black Hills of South Dakota. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all media including but not limited to advertising, press releases, internal and external marketing to achieve company wide marketing goals and objectives. Responsibilities for the Communications and Media Specialist role:

  • Budgeting and strategizing create media plans and budgets to support company objectives.
  • Create and maintain strong media and press relationships, locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Write and edit company communications in regards to print and digital formats
  • Plan and execute company objectives such as media relations, community involvement, and public relations
  • Create and distribute press releases
  • Receive, review and approve press applications
  • Work with and direct media outlets to create promotions and set up interviews to enhance brand awareness and community reputation
  • Arrange and attend all press conferences and special events
  • Project management of all special events, work flows, and functions
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy in all assigned projects
  • Administrative tasks such as scheduling, facilitating, communicating and planning
  • Create internal and external communication for projects and events
  • Other responsibilities assigned by management

Required Qualifications for the Communications and Media Specialist role:

  • Bachelor’s/Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Business Management or related field highly preferred
  • 1-3 years of public relations, media and or communications experience
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office Suites
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Comprehension of AP Style
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time
  • Ability to be proactive, problem solve and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment with a lot of moving pieces
  • Ability to create budgets and goals and accomplish them
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities
  • Must be able to show a portfolio of projects and previous experience


This position will require a flexible schedule as most special events will be on weekends and in the evening. It will also require overtime depending upon the business needs.
