Cisco Systems, Inc. (“Cisco”) has a Contracts Management Office (CMO) in the US Public Sector Sales Organization and is seeking to hire a government contracts project manager.


Job Description:

  • Ability to read and understand IT sales contracts and translate, execute and ensure compliance withoperational and administrative contractual obligations
  • Manage US Public Sector State, Local and/or Education (SLED) direct contracts including relationships contracting officers
  • Engage with Legal, Finance, IT and other business units on contracts-related requirements, issues and business processes
  • Support Sales and Channels on contract-related issues or deal opportunities
  • Manage Cisco authorized resellers with respect to subcontracting obligations
  • Supervise processing of contract sales reports and stepping in to assist as necessary to meet submittal deadlines
  • Oversee generation of contract-related payments with A/P by deadline
  • Ability to execute complex ongoing business processes across cross-functional teams within designated deadlines
  • Provide regular status updates of overall processes and detailed tasks via presentations, team meetings, databases and other written documents and tools
  • Develop, document and/or enhance new (or existing) business processes to support the growing and changing business requirements and needs of the department
  • Extensive experience analyzing and examining large and various contract related data sets to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful information that can help CMO and the U.S. Public Sector sales organization make more informed business decisions and generate actionable plan to optimize contract sales and operational efficiencies
  • Work on special projects with internal and external stakeholders
  • Train internal and external groups, including developing the necessary training materials
  • Drive or assist with other team members on large or urgent projects from time to time (i.e. metrics, PowerPoint presentations for executives, etc.)

Skills/Background Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience
  • Results-oriented; execute high quality work with time constraints and limited resources
  • Strong organizational skills and extremely detailed oriented in a very fast-paced environment where change is constant
  • Strong time management skills – can multi-task and work effectively under extreme pressure and multiple deadlines and meeting project/team goals/objectives, including addressing daily “firedrills”
  • Extensive experience with tracking, maintaining and updating large volume of data, where data accuracy and integrity are critical                                         
  • Ability to manage strategic customer and other stakeholder relationships and resolve complex issues quickly with little guidance or support
  • Self-starter and strategic thinker, who can work independently with little supervision and will proactively seek out of the box solutions
  • Strong team player who is flexible and can work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communications (verbal and written), influencing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge of financial reporting tools, extraction of data from databases and performing analysis
  • Demonstrated operations or project or program management experience, including working on process improvement initiatives
  • Willingness to learn new/improve existing skills and tools (i.e. Excel proficiency)
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers and ensuring customer satisfaction

Minimum Software Skills Required

  • Solid proficiency with MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
  • MS Excel proficiency working with high volume data (100K+ rows) while maintaining precise accuracy:
    • Hide/unhide rows and tabs; Wrap text; Merge and Center; Fill/Autofill; Paste Values; Transpose;
    • Format data – currency/accounting, percentage, decimals, dates, etc.;
    • Inserting/deleting columns/rows;
    • Multi-level sorting and filtering

Software Skills Preferred

  • MS Excel proficiency with the following functions:
    • Format painter; remove duplicates;
    • Freeze Panes;
    • Creating and editing basic spreadsheet formulas (sum, average, count, calculating net cost per applied discounts, vlookup, etc.);
    • Use of shortcuts for efficiency
  • Jira
  • Smartsheet

Previous Work Experience Preferred

  • Experience working with Public Sector customers in US state and local government
  • Contracts drafting, negotiations and/or administration experience
  • Sales, Channels or Operations experience in large high tech companies, preferably in Public Sector
  • State or local government procurement experience
