The Controller will work closely with the executives focused on a major real estate location's retail and sponsorship portfolio. The Controller will be responsible for financial reporting, management reporting, strategic planning and staffing. This position also involves collaboration with the finance team and senior leaders to produce a variety of high quality, monthly and quarterly reports that are used companywide for reporting, analysis and planning. The Controller will also interface with independent auditors, internal associates and external parties. The ideal candidate is a highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style that responds quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines. The Controller will report to the VP of Commercial Accounting and be based in our New York office.

Supervise the activities of a Senior Accountant and a Staff Accountant
-Review monthly work paper packages, CAM/RET reconciliations, compliance reporting
-Provide guidance on business combinations and presentation of financial statements
-Oversee preparation of quarterly and year-end tax, cash, management and GAAP reporting
-Work with operations and business leads to create and finalize annual budgets
-Review/Approve distributions
-Collaborate with operational teams and senior management on operations reporting
-Ensure all policies and procedures are followed
-Liaise with internal and external auditors
-Assist with special projects/initiatives, as needed

-Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
-CPA required
-Must have 7+ years of experience, ideally public accounting focused on commercial and/or retail real estate
-Strong analytical skills
-Excellent written and communication skills
-Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
-Clear communicator with ability to interact with senior leaders
-Superior organizational skills, must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask
-Mature professional with excellent judgment, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
-Knowledge of JD Edwards and Argus or other property management related software, a plus
