Pay Rate: $30.00 Per hour

Position Summary:

As an integral part of our client’s Finance team, the Cost Accountant/Analyst will primarily be responsible for creating manufacturing financial operating plan/variance analysis for client’s site activities. This role will be involved in all finance and accounting activities across the business which includes E&O Calculation, Inventory and Cost forecasting, manufacturing variance analysis, and other ad hoc projects.


Support creation of manufacturing financial operating plan/variance analysis.
Develop costing metrics that highlights key performance indicator.
Participate in quarter-end close by reviewing, analyzing and understanding inventory spending forecast variances and work with accounting to resolve any issues.
Strategic cost analysis, in-house vs. outsourced.
Develop inventory excess and obsolescence review process.
Analyze and report main cause for monthly fluctuations of the cost of materials.
Monitor material usage to identify and report on waste and/or shrinkage of inventory materials.
Costing Review and cost data for generation of bill of materials of specific products.
Monitor raw material purchases to ensure accurate allocation of costs to products and report discrepancies.
Compare purchases-to-usage-ending inventory for discrepancies or variances.
Calculate and maintain overhead allocation amounts and/or percentages on an annual basis.
Frequent review and update of product line costing on an on-going basis.
Identify and calculate direct material and labor costs.
Participate with the Product Development department in preparation of cost estimates for new products being considered for development.
Prepare and present costing reports/projects to management in periodic cost accounting meetings.
Inventory Segregate waste/shrinkage from cost of materials on a regular basis and provide general journal entries to record the transactions.
Audit Cycle count process

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to make logical assumptions, identify trends, incorporate external and internal information, draw conclusions from ambiguous data, and effectively benchmark results against appropriate baselines.
Ability to analyze and communicate variances to management is required to be successful in this position, as well as, the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills, are required.
Ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain operational buy-in with easy to understand analysis and presentations.
Ability to manage multiple assignments
Good judgment, and prioritize projects and time effectively.
Excellent skills with SAP, MS Excel are required.
Exceptional financial analysis skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
3-5+ years of progressive business experience in finance and/or accounting roles.
(FP&A type roles that support complex analysis, budgeting and forecasting of business impacts / trends),
A least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
Advanced Excel Skills and heavy manual analysis & reporting environment.

Specific abilities include V-Look-Ups, SumIf statements, Pivots. Strong aptitude for multi-dimensional financial reporting databases with proven data handling skills and demonstrated ability to turn high volumes of data into actionable information.

HFM experience desirable.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure and to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
Comfortable in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business.
