Customer Service Representative


Adecco is assisting a client in the Baton Rouge, LA area for a Customer Service position.

We are seeking a CSR with first hand knowledge of the procedures and processes associated with customer service, supply chain, and forwarding functions in a fast paced environment. In this customer-centered role, your tenacity and pride in your work are crucial to our clients ongoing success. You will be the point of contact for the company with their customers and vendors.


Main assignments and responsibilities:

  • Create import and export files and data entry into data management system.
  • Prepare and issue all necessary transport documentation (transport instructions, bookings with shipping line, DGD and B/L documentation…).
  • Ensure highest customer service level by interacting daily with customers and vendors via phone and e-mail on shipment status.
  • Approve vendor invoices and issue sales invoices to customers.
  • Create and update customer-specific working instructions.
  • Report customer and vendor complaints; provide data on root cause and assist in solving issues, handling complaints and preventing recurrence.
  • Check/approve purchase invoices and create sales invoices.
  • Archive files.
  • Administrative tasks, as required.

Specific requirements and skills

  • Previous experience in Freight Forwarding/Logistics and a proven knowledge of ocean freight shipment documentation and processes (MSDS, DGD, B/L …) as well as knowledge about transport legislation (DOT CFR 49, IMDG, FMC, INCOTERMS…) would be a significant asset
  • Possess an eagerness to learn

  • Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office
