Customs Entry Writer

Exciting opportunity for a Customs Entry Writer at our client’s organization in the Itasca, IL area. Adecco’s Executive Recruitment team is assisting a fast-growing international company in their search to fill this direct hire, permanent placement opportunity!

The Customs Entry Writer plays a key role in customer relationships and should possess strong customer service and professional communication skill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, compiling and managing all documentation and records required to clear goods through United States Customs Service.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Negotiating with customers and U.S. Customs, retaining service as an intermediary between airlines, shipping companies, transportation companies, shippers and warehouses.
Conduct U.S. Customs entries under regulatory agencies rules and guidelines.
Ensure entries made are in compliance with U.S. Customs law.
Classification of products and goods to determine applicable duty rates.
Prepare and file all documentation for U.S. Customs.
Knowledge of all entry types: Formal, Informal, Warehouse Entry & Withdrawal, Carnets, TIB, IT, IE, T&E.
Maintain up to date knowledge of all regulations and procedures for USCS, FDA, DOT and other state and federal agencies.
Process ACH statement payments to USCS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
3+ years’ experience in importing or freight forwarding business.
Must have both ISO training and knowledge of an IT entry.
Basic math skills.
Basic computer and office equipment skills.
Microsoft office experience.
Must know metric system, rate exchange and have experience in duty drawback, TIB, FDA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds of force.
Vision to read and write information accurately.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
