The Data Integrity Specialist ensures a complete and accurate health record by working closely within all operational areas of HIMS. The Data Integrity Specialist uses knowledge of all HIMS sections, all relevant hospital systems, interfaces and work flows to analyze, correct and make suggestions for enhancement and improvements or processes within the department and Epic.

  • Assures accurate and timely processing of work queues, error queues, reports, and other tasks unique to each job function.
  • Assists and responds to physicians and other providers promptly.
  • Receives initial information from a multitude of sources regarding system issues and investigates all aspects of the medical record, demographics, source systems, and desired destinations to resolve issues.
  • The Data Integrity Specialist works closely with other members of the HIMS team, IT, clinic staff, Patient Access, Patient Financial Services, etc. to ensure chart accuracy throughout all hospital systems.
  •  Utilizes various methods to verify provider, patient or system information to determine the appropriate resolution and required actions for correction.
  • Support testing, new versions, system upgrades, new applications, etc. to ensure accurate results with minimal impact to end users, key stakeholders and functional areas.
  • Duplicate Medical Record investigation and resolution.
  • Managing patient access requests related to the EHR.
  • Analysis of patient records for documentation completion and accuracy.
  • Managing Provider Suspension and Warning processes.
  • Processing of dictated and transcribed documents into the patients chart.
  • Processing of outbound communications between providers, patients and other organizations.
  • Processing Requests for Information (ROI).
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor degree a plus.
  • Two (2) years progressively responsible and directly related work experience and basic medical terminology.
  • License/Certifications RHIT (registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office environment. No special physical demands are required. NO RISK OF EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS.
