DH HR Manager

Privately owned manufacturing business located in Northwest Indiana is hiring for a Human Resources Manager position.; This individual will manage the facility’s human resources team and will work with management to develop and maintain a strong and engaged workforce.

 

NATURE OF WORK

Responsible for ensuring that the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation, of the human resources function along with the challenge of working with a fast and growing company.

 

Responsibilities will include:

Staffing – Recruitment and retention of hourly and professional employees.  Use of all available means, social media, temp agencies, local trad schools and colleges, to assure this objective. Monitor competitiveness of wage structures, benefits and working conditions and make recommendations to management where appropriate.

Training/Development – Work with local and corporate resources to develop and administer training needs for all levels of the business. Robust apprentice programs, internships and ongoing evaluations of employees must be part of this objective.

Benefits – Work with senior management to negotiate benefits packages and oversee administration of these benefits.

Compliance – Assure compliance to federal, state and local laws and regulation, as they apply to employment and hiring practices.

KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Develop greater flexibility in the workforce through a broadening of worker skills; Improve turnover/attrition; Maintain strong employee relations, both hourly and salaried; Develop a strong an approachable shop floor presence; Partner with plant leadership on continuous improvement and health & safety initiatives.

ORGANIZATION

This position reports to the Plant Manager with responsibilities to corporate management. This position will supervise a human resource department that currently has two direct reports

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

P.H.R.  or P.S.H.R. Certification

Prior experience working as HR in a manufacturing environment

Demonstrated success in the development and deployment of training programs supporting key manufacturing disciplines such as Lean and Quality Management

Bachelor’s degree in Human n Resource Management or equivalent work experience

Minimum 3 years in similar H.R. Management role

Strong Computer skills with experience with PowerPoint presentations
