Job Title: Director of Maintenance and Facilities

Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Salary: $110k - $125k

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
In this role the Director, Maintenance and Facilities will be responsible for managing the maintenance of all equipment, buildings and grounds including Machine and Facilities Maintenance for multiple facilities. This position is keenly connected to enabling world class results with respect to environmental, health and safety compliance as well as all regulatory laws of local, state and federal agencies pertaining to building / construction permits. The successful candidate will also be a strong leader in building expansions, consolidations, transfers and factory master planning and execution initiatives; and will provide effective leadership for all reporting department personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g., Functional Departments, staff, public agencies, citizen advisory groups, community groups) for the purpose of coordinating activities and initiatives to resolve issues, and exchange information concerning assigned functions and related matters.
Develops and monitors budget, expenditures allocations, fund balances and related financial data for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and expenditures are authorized in accordance with established limitations.
Directs the maintenance and facilities services for current operations sustainment and directs the implementation of new strategies, programs and/or processes (e.g., facility utilization, site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance) for the purpose of satiating growth ambitions, reducing cost, and reducing risk to business within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
Leads the development of business continuity plans by manufacturing site / operation for the sole purpose of people, product and process preservation within established timeframes.
Leads the inspection of new construction, repair work, grounds, special projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently; specifications for major capital improvements are within local/state/federal regulations; and approving inspection reports and payment requests.
Enables the department to properly acquire and manage maintenance, building and grounds and construction contracts for current, new facilities and major alterations and/or modernization of existing facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the work is performed in accordance with specifications, timelines and budget.
Manages assigned program and/or department responsibilities (e.g., site improvement, grounds, ADA access, fire inspections, safety) for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to organization objectives and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and District requirements.
Leads and / or contributes to the preparation and development of a variety of mandated plans, requests, studies, and reports prepared internally or by retained consultants (e.g., environmental impact report, project applications with the State and local agencies) for the purpose of complying with regulatory actions, funding requirements, and other established policies.
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g., interviewing, selecting, evaluating, supervising, and training) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g., Project Plans, Gantt Charts, CapEx Requests, Operations Review Status Reports, Budgetary Updates, Requests for Quotes, a variety of narrative and statistical reports related to construction, maintenance and modernization of facilities) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, seeking input, and/or conveying information.
Presents information at various meetings for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
Researches new equipment, TPM / Lean methods, laws, regulations, etc. for the purpose of recommending purchases, engaging in contracts and maintaining overall facility and equipment effectiveness.
Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from staff, Function Departments, community agencies, etc. for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
Reviews long-range projections to determine timelines and locations for new equipment, facility upgrades / enhancements and associated needs (e.g., hiring architects and consultants, financial payback, alternative analysis, etc.) for the purpose of developing plans to assure the timely availability of facilities space, equipment readiness and contribute to the overall operational readiness.
Perform other related duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has supervisory responsibilities including:


Supervise employees assigned regarding their daily activities, assignments, schedules and adherence to company policies
Provide leadership for employee relation through effective communication, coaching, training, and development
Detail and implement long-term direct reports/organization plan to increase overall department responsiveness
Ensure the staff is properly trained for their assigned tasks
Execute performance reviews and disciplinary action as required


WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position requires compliance with ITAR requirement. Must be a “U.S. Person” (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of firearms; quality, features, safety, etc. is a plus
Demonstrable track record of 10 years of successfully working in a high-volume manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years of leading and managing
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Cross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm
Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needs
Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task
Experience working independently with little supervision


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in facilities and maintenance management
CNC machine shop maintenance experience required
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, Electromechanical controls, automation, cooling water systems and electrical, water and pneumatic infrastructure design
Computer/Software proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, MS Project Capable
Strategic Planning/ Factory Master Planning Experience

Preferred:

BSME or BSEE
Certified Project Mgt. Preferred
EHS experience
Familiarity with MRP/ ERP systems


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require travel occasionally.
