Overview

Company is looking for a full-time Director of Logistics, Distribution and Transportation to oversee all aspects of the company’s expanding ambient, refrigerated and frozen distribution footprint. Product categories include; Shelf stable Mayonnaise, refrigerated Vegan Mayonnaise, Frozen meals, Protein Bars, Dressings, Ketchup and Mustard, Bottled Oil, Pasta Sauces, BBQ and Specialty Sauces, Protein Powders and Supplements

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary

As Director of Logistics, Distribution and Transportation, you will oversee all aspects of shipping, inventory management, distribution centers (direct and 3PL’s), delivery performance and budget performance. This role will work closely with the supply chain/demand planning, customer service and the sales teams to achieve shipping and delivery performance goals, manage contractual relationships and prepare and execute long-term agreements with distribution and logistics partners.

On the transportation and logistics side, this role is responsible for the transportation of all finished goods in & outbound. This includes vendor selection & negotiation through RFPs and ensuring timely deliveries to our DCs and customers via a variety of transportation modes while managing costs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Influence and execute strategic initiatives related to Frozen, Refrigerated and Temp Controlled, Distribution centers and Logistics by formulating and recommending policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving the Company’s competitive position and the profitability.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance and Technology partners to achieve performance objectives and strategic goals for the business as set by the SLA’s, holding both internal employees and external partners accountable to performance expectations
  • Prepare a departmental annual budget based on the forecasting by the company and direction from leadership
  • Oversee and ensure the company’s technology and ERP (SAP 4Hana) systems are supporting the customer order management, distribution, warehousing and transportation needs.
  • Lead a bi-annual consolidation and physical inventory and manage closely the aging inventory.
  • Lead the RFP programs for in and outbound logistics to optimize lead time and cost for the covered period
  • Pioneer concepts designed to lead cost reduction and value improvement activity, continuous improvement by identifying ways to streamline processes and reduce waste
  • Oversee and develop warehouse management strategies
  • Manage and improve relationships and agreements with 3rd Party Logistics providers (3PLs)
  • Drive distribution and logistics studies to ensure company distribution is optimized.
  • Develop and oversee the company’s managed freight program(s).
  • Support implementation of new ERP system in 2019/2020.
  • Maintain operational integrity, open communication channels and resolve issues effectively and promptly
  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports
  • Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong data analytics skills/experience
  • Operational knowledge of distribution centers, 3PL’s and customer logistics requirements
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, written, listening
  • Strong leadership & management skills
  • MS office & Advanced excel skills
  • Google suite product skills, in particular Google Sheets.
  • Education and Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience in Logistics, Distribution, and Transportation operations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma basic certification a plus
  • Extensive experience in the Food industry (e.g. working with perishable products)
  • Strong process improvement & cost saving accomplishments
  • Must be willing to travel
