One of the world's largest children's publishing companies is currently seeking a Director of Online Merchandising with approx. 5+ years of experience of senior level retail merchandising. In this role, you will be responsible for

developing and executing a strategy to optimize Book Club sites product and author presentation, product recommendations, cross sell and upsell, product search, navigation, reviews and ratings utilization, and presentation of related content and visual assets on product detail pages.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop strategies and take appropriate actions to optimize taxonomy, navigation, search, promotional areas, product detail and home pages.
  • Evaluate and maintain effective product family groupings, sort orders, site search tuning, categorization strategies, and cross sells making the product easy to find and shop.
  • Develop strategic rules for cross-sell, upsell and product recommendations on the site. Define metrics to measure and fine tune them regularly and actively.
  • Regularly works with Web Analytics to monitor business performance and customer feedback and analyzes categories, promotional click through, and online content success to improve site performance and conversion.
  • Develop weekly overview reports and action plans
  • Leads technical merchandising projects with the technical team through the conception, requirements, development and deployment.
  • Works with the Web Operations to quickly resolve customer issues
  • Optimize boutique pages, product pages and banners, including strategy for video assets and images. Constantly tune search to plan for new categories, new titles, authors and brands and makes updates as needed throughout the school year. Suggest any photography style guide updates/needs.
  • Directs and conducts regular competitive analyses to identify best practices and recommended action items.
  • Identifies strategies and opportunities for catalog, social & email Marketing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail or related concentration required.
  • 5+ years of senior level retail merchandising experience required
  • Solid project management and vendor management expertise.
  • Understanding of A/B testing, personalization, analytics and reporting a must.
  • Experience with web platforms like web sphere, SAAS, web content management systems, Omniture, Adobe, Endeca, Brightcove, Coremetics or similar web software
  • Experience with web analytics tools a must (Omniture, CoreMetrics, Visual Sciences, and HTML)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills. Detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as team member.

This is a long term, possible temp-hire job opportunity. Pay for this position will not exceed $55ph.
