POSITION: Dispatch Associate
LOCATION: Alpharetta, GA
DURATION: 12 months (Contract)
HOURS: Monday – Friday OR Sunday – Wednesday 3PM – 12AM

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
The Dispatch Associate is responsible for managing customer transportation needs daily. He/She coordinates customer schedules with the carriers and tracks and traces loads to execute to the predetermined schedules. The Dispatch Specialist also responds to special customer requests and adjusts carrier schedules as needed Reviews customer requests to accurately plan carrier schedules • Discuss customer needs with carriers to ensure they have sufficient information • Communicate adjustments to customer requests to ensure loads are accounted for and serviced in a timely manner • Review customer requests to confirm carriers have appropriate equipment • Assign loads to carriers to insure complete end to end UPS service goals • Tracks and traces loads and professionally escalates exceptions (overdue pickups, transit or delivery) as needed to the carriers to execute to the schedule effectively and on time • Proactively work with carriers to provide contingency solutions on at risk freight (i.e. work with Coyote or other partner carriers) • Proactively work with UPS Hub / Feeder Operations and Corporate Transportation to develop contingency solutions on at risk freight • Proactively administer interchange agreements with contract partner carriers as a contingency effort to repower loads Promotes & Maintains Positive Customer Relationships • Communicates customer transportation needs to carriers to ensure awareness of expectations • Responds to customer ad hoc pick-up requests to integrate into dispatch plans • Resolves customer issues in order to maintain long-term business relationships • Collaborates with solutions and account executives on changing needs • Assesses projected daily load counts (add and delete) with supervisor in order to respond to anticipated volume levels. • Escalates problems professionally and appropriately internally to UPS Supervisor, Operations Management, UPS Sales, Carrier Relations and other UPS functions as needed to insure on time UPS small package delivery service Documents and Analyzes Dispatch Information • Reviews and analyzes data (e.g., loads, pickup failures, delivery failures) to influence plans maximizing Dispatch results • Tracks modifications and changes (e.g., new customers, new locations, additional loads, etc.) to incorporate into future Dispatch plans • Checks customer reports weekly to assign an appropriate carrier coverage for fulfilling transportation needs • Completes reporting to communicate projected needs for the next shift General Requirements

Requirements:

2 years customer service and/or dispatch experience in transportation, distribution, order-fulfillment industry
Good communication and organizational skills
Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook) skills
Accurate and rapid data entry and retrieval
