Adecco Executive Recruitment is currently on the hunt for candidates for the job of Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer for its client in Penn Yan, New York.

You will provide supervision of the daily activities involved with the Safety and Health programs for the site. This includes safety compliance inspections, preparation of safety
documentation, safety management plans, formal safety communications, and other company activities.


Responsibilities


Maintain consistent level of communication with all employees and ensure that they understand and follow all company policies and EHS rules.
Works closely with Operations Manager and Supervisors to discuss overall facility safety and to promote a safe work environment.
Perform or designate equipment and building safety inspections in accord with all current regulations.
Acquire and maintain required inspection records and permits.
Conduct new employee, visitor, and on-site contractor EHS training.
Prepare materials for Safety Committee meetings.
Scheduling and conducting safety meetings, classes and facility inspections.
Facilitate the development and maintenance of required facility related safety documents including but not limited to, chemical listings, SDS’s, ISO program and
equipment safety procedures, OSHA log.
As applicable, maintain knowledge of Federal, State, Local and site permit requirements in the areas of occupational health and safety, air quality, solid and liquid
waste management, hazardous material and waste management, water quality, including storm water.
Maintain site EHS plan.
Create and execute monthly EHS training plan.
Compile, analyzes, and interpret data related to near-miss, incidents, injuries and illnesses. Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for injury/incident investigations
and obtain accident and injury reports.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned including special processes or projects.
Maintain compliance with Federal, State & Local OSHA (Occupational Health & Safety Administration) Regulations.
Position will also assist in the maintenance of EPA, DOT, IATA, IMDG.
The employee in this position shall maintain compliance with all Safety Standards as well as EHS rules/requirements of the site.


Requirements

Bachelors degree in EHS or related field
3-5 years of manufacturing safety experience
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Must be capable of working in a manufacturing environment, and have the ability to negotiate stairs, ladders and confined space areas.
Must be able to work independently and be willing to take on responsibility within a defined scope.
Good organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and follow-through skills are essential. Must possess good communication and listening skills to identify, explain and resolve safety issues
Ability to work indepenently with minimal supervision, self-motivated and creative. Able to lead by example in order to exemplify a safe and healthy work environment for others to follow.
Able to understand, interpret and communicate regulatory / corporate requirements in a way that minimizes confusion by those impacted.

Preferred Certifications

Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) OR
Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST)
