Electrical Controls Engineer

Assisting a conveyor systems manufacturing company in their search for an Electrical Controls Engineer.
Salary based on experience, $70K to $80K; on top of that we pay our salary people who travel, $22.50 per hour for any hours they work over 40 when traveling. Must have experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, I/O, sensors and devices. Must have general knowledge of computers and is proficient in CAD. Travel time is normally around 35%.

Position: Electrical (Controls) Engineer

Duties: Design and support implementation of PLC-based control systems for conveyor and related equipment:


Design control panels using various software packages such as AutoCAD
Generate/modify PLC and HMI programs
Develop control sequencing and speed modulation for three phase motors
Coordinate needs, such as interfaces, with other vendors
Provide on & off-site customer support & training
Work extensive overtime as required
Travel approximately 25-40% of time
Identify & requisition parts
Support building of control panels
Perform other related duties as requested by the General Manager or Electrical Engineering Manager.


Minimum Qualifications:

Formal post high school electrical schooling combined with relevant experience providing a knowledge of low voltage DC and single and three phase AC circuitry
Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD software
Ability to understand basic mechanical and electrical schematic drawings
Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and HMI display generation
Good written & oral communication skills
Ability to work well with others
Ability to interface well with customers and vendors
Have the desire and self-initiative to be willing to continuously learn

Preferred Qualifications:

Electrical engineering degree with an emphasis on Industrial Control Systems

Four-year BS
Two-year AAS


Experience with one or more computer programming languages
PLC, HMI, Servo, and VFD programming experience, especially with Rockwell Automation products
Familiarity with electrical standards such as UL508 and NFPA79
