Elementary Math Teacher

Our client is looking for an Assessment Specialist I to join the team. In this position a successful candidate would have experience teaching in a classroom setting, specifically 3-6th grade Math subject lines. 

 POSITION SUMMARY The Assessment Specialist I develops items, tests, and related products that are closely aligned to the current subject area standards and student learning objectives and Ieads discussions with clients and stakeholders on assessment of subject related constructs. This role applies strong content knowledge to add significant value to item writing, item review, test assembly, and discussions at committee meetings, and is knowledgeable about current standards and trends. The Assessment Specialist I works independently, or as part of a team, and may also work with outside experts in a field of specialty.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Write and review items, gather and resolve feedback from multiple sources on items; evaluate item acceptability after testing Participate in constructed response scoring activities, including work with faculty consultants or state department staff Recruit, train, mentor and manage outside item writers; help develop item writer training materials and assist with the facilitation of item writer training meetings Assist in the design and development of new assessments and innovative products and services; assist in the development of test blueprints Assemble pretests, tests and/or draft Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) pools; review tests and participate in CAT simulation activities; assist preparation of Special Test Additions Respond to Supervisor Irregularity Reports (SIRs) and candidate inquiries, investigate possible copyright violations; may review and make recommendations for security cases Assist client committees (organizing meetings, recommending committee members and explaining and summarizing analysis results) Review and revise program publications and interpretive test preparation materials Participate in teacher training activities Assist with reliability, validity or comparability studies Apply knowledge of item statistics to the evaluation of items and assembly of tests Assist with test development activities as a member of one or more program teams, possibly as a member of a test creation team; May serve on committees at the junior level Assist in project direction; help to implement item development plans; work on special development projects as appropriate Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function

EDUCATION A Masters degree in field of specialty or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and experience can be acquired is required.

EXPERIENCE A minimum of (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including teaching at the middle school, high school, and/or college level, in writing, in editing, and/or in developing assessments is required. Strong writing skills, welldeveloped organizational skills, and a willingness/adeptness with regards to learning new technology are required. Comprehensive knowledge of field of specialty in order to develop tests in subject area and to serve as resource person for peers, committees, and clients is also required. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with clients and external committees is required. Experience in test development, educational measurement, applied statistics is preferred. Mathematics Comprehensive knowledge of a relevant field of specialty (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science) in order to develop Mathematics items, tests, and related products that are closely aligned to the current subjectarea standards. Ability to approach Mathematics item development in a way that integrates the multiple dimensions of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in Mathematics, including the Standards for Mathematical Practice, the Standards for Mathematical Content, and incorporation of the use of technology in mathematics assessment. Ability to develop test items aligned to CCSS and state standards, including tests used for K12 accountability, college admission/placement, teacher certification, and national benchmarks.
