We are currently recruiting for the role of Facilities Manager for our client in Raleigh. You will be responsible for managing the execution of all building-related operations on a day-to-day basis, including building and utility maintenance, pest control, landscaping, custodial services, MRO storeroom and CMMS.

Additionally, this you will ensure that continuous, high quality cGMP utilities for production operations are available, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance of utility and site wide systems under the control of the Facilities team. You will work alongside the Project Engineering team on modifications and upgrades to all site facilities and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the generation and quality of plant utilities meeting all required standards in a consistent, reliable through staff supervision, skill assessment, training, performance management and employee development.
Schedule, plan and execute daily maintenance operations, staff technician supervision, budgeting and the timely completion of all facility/utility corrective and preventative maintenance work order requests.
Maintain and proactively manage regulatory compliance with Company policies, as well as all federal, state, and local codes/regulations.
Serve as the site Security Officer (badge, key access, site perimeter).
Serve as the site Fire Chief (assist with fire system, liaison with Fire Marshal and insurance carrier).
Manage (review, schedule, assign, close, trend) maintenance work orders to facility mechanics and utility operators.
Coordinate and schedule outside services, as necessary, to support utility and facility systems throughout the site.
Manage participate in Facility / Utility optimization projects.
Support, review, assess and counsel project teams regarding all aspects of specification, selection, design, placement, standardization and procedures for new equipment and facility modifications.
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical support for plant teams.
Conduct periodic performance reviews for facility mechanics and other staff members.
Provide leadership to facility mechanics and other staff members to maintain good group moral and safety.
Provide financial due diligence on external expenditures and maintain expenses within budget.
Manage preventative maintenance (PM) work orders on schedule with appropriate backlog of corrective maintenance (CM) work orders.
Maintain the facility and grounds to a level acceptable to a pharmaceutical site.
Actively participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety aspects of the plant.
Manage and integrate department with reliability maintenance strategies and methods throughout the site in order to provide maximum availability of equipment and facilities.
Develop recommendations and assist with implementation of methods, procedures and techniques for improving maintenance of existing/new systems.
Assess and make recommendations for utilization of space, space needs, equipment, personnel and other resources as needed.
Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Interface daily with all facility departments.
Develop performance reports of maintenance department activities in line with Performance Excellence objectives and maintain department Visual Management Board(s).
Manage and integrate department with reliability maintenance strategies and methods throughout the site in order to provide maximum availability of equipment and facilities.
Develop and expand the technical competence, training and qualification of the Facilities team.
Assure, create, review, approve and oversee documentation to maintain appropriate and required records supporting the maintenance of facility equipment.
Manage and report on key performance indices (KPIs) used to monitor progress.
Develop tactical plans to advance overall performance.
Develop recommendations and assist with implementation of methods, procedures and techniques for improving maintenance of existing/new systems.
Ensure corrective actions and preventative actions, with respect to building systems, are completed in a timely manner.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Follow all Company safety rules and regulations, promote safe work practices, recognize hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.
Train new and existing personnel as required.
Participate in workplace continuous improvement projects.

YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Respond to common inquiries or complaints.
Effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or groups.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and/or concrete variables.
Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Master’s degree in Engineering discipline a plus.
Minimum 10 years of relevant technical engineering experience combined with Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with construction, maintenance, and utility knowledge.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an Engineering or Maintenance Management/Supervision position related to pharmaceutical/biotechnology manufacturing operations, with a track record of management/leadership effectiveness.
Practical working knowledge of engineering disciplines (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, engineering materials).
Knowledge of cGMPs, FDA, purchasing practices and cost management.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications:


Professional Engineer registration preferred.
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
Self-motivated, with good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) a plus. Maximo experience preferred.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.
Vendor/Contractor negotiation ability a plus.
