Forecasting Analyst/Data Scientist

The primary objective of the ForecastOps Team is to efficiently convert inputs and insights from qualitative and quantitative sources into relevant, accurate forecasts. The Forecasting Analyst/Data Scientist is a critical member of the team, responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions that support forecasting accuracy, speed, and insight. 

 

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent analytical skills (ideally also statistical and/or programming/SQL skills), be able to clearly articulate and discuss complex quantitative concepts, and be comfortable in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

Forecasting Processes and Automation

  • Generate, analyze, modify and publish weekly forecasts of GX market demand over time

  • Identify, model and incorporate impacts of major business decisions in forecasts, communicate the impact and methodology to cross-functional partners

  • Improve publishing speed by designing and developing technical solutions to replace repeated manual work

  • Manage forecast data pipeline and diagnose/fix pipeline issues

  • Administer SAS forecasting system

 

Forecast Accuracy

  • Work with cross-functional partners to collect and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data, propose and implement improvements to existing processes, and create scalable solutions to address forecasting problems

  • Build technical solutions that apply learnings from prior forecast errors to improve future-looking forecasts

  • Work with data scientists to develop and improve our automated forecasting systems, including applying statistical and other analytical techniques to improving system performance (i.e. efficiency and forecast accuracy)

Forecasting Insight

  • Build tools that enable the team to break down historical forecast errors with greater detail and accuracy; design and implement solutions to facilitate communication of findings with cross-functional partners

  • Generate impactful data visualizations and commentary on forecast trends

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Quantitative Economics). Master's Degree or PhD preferred. Knowledge in forecasting and other relevant statistical techniques
