LOCATION: San Antonio, TX

HOURS: M-F, Full-Time – 8am-5pm
DURATION: 5-months, with potential to extend or go permanent
PAY: $.25/hr.

Job Summary
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for assisting the Graphic Designer and Sr. Graphic Designer, brand and marketing team with the creation of WellMed brand marketing collaterals such as Web site, newsletters, product design, displays, advertising collaterals and corporate branding as well as provide support in the coordination of advertising efforts. The position will also be responsible for a variety of graphic art, print and tasks ranging from design inception to layout and production. The position also communicates creative concepts visually, verbally, and in writing to the department and client groups.
Essential Job Functions
1. Coordinates, executes and oversees a variety of internal and external marketing and collateral project designs under the direction of management in an accurate and timely manner, while understanding the business objectives and requirements of the job.
2. Collaborates with the Marketing team to develop advertising and marketing materials, while meeting deadlines and budgetary requirements.
3. Designs, lays out, and reformats graphic files to print specifications while meeting deadlines and considering print limitations and government regulations.
4. Acts as a functional area expert in CMS guidelines and regulatory compliance.
5. Inspects concepts, layouts, designs, copy and edit scripts, and other advertising materials, for adherence to CMS marketing guidelines
6. Develops new advertising and marketing concepts, using computer software to execute designs.
7. Works as part of a team with outside vendors and marketing staff to discuss and determine final layout design and product.
8. Compresses and optimizes images, proofs copy, pre-flight files prior to going to press, and performs press checks.
9. Assists in preparing strategic reports with sales and marketing to impact enrollment projections and sales strategies.
10. Tracks budget and expenses and response rates to evaluate each campaign based on objectives and industry norms.
11. Coordinates advertising initiatives and works with other marketing team members to ensure appropriate graphics, data and ad specifications are accurate and produced in a timely manner.
12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education, Experience & Skills
Associates degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing related field. (Two additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of associates degree).
Three years of experience in graphic design and graphic production.
Knowledge of printing and prepress processes
Proficiency with Mac, Mac Software, Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
One or more years of experience packaging artwork and design layout

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing related field. (Eight additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelors degree).
Two or more years of experience working in an advertising agency
Ability to analyze and interpret CMS regulatory criteria
Marketing experience in a health plan environment
Demonstrated Time Project Management
Knowledge in emerging technologies in design programs such as: Quark Xpress, FreeHand, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash

Good eye for layout, type, and color. Can integrate supplied photos and illustrations attractively with text. Can organize fairly complex and chaotic source materials into simpler, integrated, coherent printed piece. Technically, can usually produce files that will image to prepress film without extensive rebuilding. Understands basics of different file and font formats. Very basic understanding of CMYK (color-separation) issues. Limited experience on press. Has understanding of readability issues in typography. Can montage photos attractively; decide when to use various effects -some drawing skills. Can produce files that will consistently image properly to film in prepress stage. Technically, understands color separation, optimization of scanned images. Can perform trapping in page-layout or drawing program. Extensive experience on press.
