Import Analyst

OVERVIEW


The Import Analyst will act as the primary client contact to ensure that proper information is provided for entries and adjustment documents. The IA is the primary support for the Client Service Team and to ensure accuracy and integrity of the client records/system (CAT). Duties will include ensuring that an effective relationship is proactively maintained with the client; Ensuring that all entries are classified and billed accurately, on time and within compliance, and to the customer’s complete satisfaction.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and manage close relationship with client; works with client directly regarding documentation, information and/or instructions
Effectively service client demand while working to ensure customs requirements, validate compliance, and verify documentation
Ensuring accurate product classification is critical for trade compliance regarding all import activities
Create and proactively manage the client tariff database, ensuring associated system information is verified and accurate, to provide for accurate one-step processing and quality output.
Works collectively with Customs and PGA’s when necessary
Uses electronic data to implement initiatives to gain efficiencies and improve one-step processing
Works directly with other members of the Client Service Team providing technical expertise, ensuring accuracy of tariff applications, and the proper selection of client/importer information
Coordinate with others in day-to-day operations, including problem solving and decision making, the organization/scheduling of work, and handling of any special projects
Conduct documented internal audit
Assists MSD (Manager of Service Delivery) in reporting team performance measurement statistics; Assists in the on-the-job training of Team members


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

3+ years of applicable customs experience required
Customs Brokers License preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Must possess knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations i.e. customs, TSA, security, and all other import and export government agencies that regulate international trade
Must have experience selecting the proper product classification for imports resulting in the compliance of tax and tariff assessments with Customs and other regulatory authorities worldwide.
Must have full working knowledge of HTS with respect to general chapter notes, SPI rules, etc.
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; verbal and written
Strong customer service orientation
Strong PC skills; working knowledge of Microsoft programs
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to handle a large workload in a fast-paced work environment
