Industrial Controls Electrician

Adecco is assisting a client in the Slidell, LA area in an immediate direct hire opportunity for an experienced Industrial Controls Electrician. The hours will be Monday-Friday form 8AM-5PM with overtime as needed.

Applicant must process knowledge of 480-volt electrical systems, breakers, motors, wiring and disconnects. Basic knowledge of low voltage 4 to 20 milliamp circuits. Ability to use multimeters and meg motors, etc. Ability to read, interpret and work from electrical and electronic schematic diagrams. Knowledge of OSHA and National Electric Code pertaining to industrial work. Knowledge of required PPE when working on electrical systems.

Performs troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and preventive maintenance on process control instrumentation, control valves, electrical motors, switchgears, transformer and circuit breakers.

Applicant must have experience with industrial controls, AC Drives, DC Motor Drives, Analogue Controls, Industrial Power Controls, be able to trouble shoot wire diagrams, experience with maintenance on production machinery and experience with hydraulic. An extrusion background or plastic processing background is a plus!

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures operation of machinery, electrical, and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production equipment, motors, conveyor systems, support equipment by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing electrical & mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling assemblies using hand and power tools. After dismantling uses experience to find the root cause that caused the defect and or breakdown.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides electrical & mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares electrical & mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Safely and efficiently troubleshoot mechanical systems that includes hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, and conveyor systems.
  • Perform PM's on mechanical and electrical systems. (electrical panels, boxes, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years’ experience in Industrial Controls Electrician
  • Individual must have a strong technical aptitude and possess direct industrial maintenance experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Understanding and application of fabrication
  • PLC troubleshooting & programming experience.
  • Practical knowledge and application of basic safety practices and use of power tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. Shows concern for quality work.
  • Attention to detail.
