Instructional Coach - Computer Science (Part-time)

***THIS IS A PARTTIME POSITION (10-12 HOURS PER WEEK)***
General Schedule: You will spend 6-8 hrs on Saturdays (approx. 3 out of 4 Saturdays per month) coaching in person, and 4-6 additional hrs flexibly scheduled throughout the work week to meet with coaches and managers, either inperson or virtually

Overview
Our client is on a mission to build social capital in minority neighborhoods by developing culturally engaging and community-centric tech innovation experiences for high-schoolers. We are seeking a part-time Instructional Coach to join their team. As a part-time Instructional Coach, you will join an energetic team devoted to increasing access and exposure to Computer Science to underrepresented communities. This person will be responsible for conducting instructional coaching with our computer science teaching staff currently located in NYC and the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Train new coaches on our model and best teaching practices when it comes to computer science education instruction
  • Observe coaches facilitating during our Saturday immersive program and provide ongoing actionable observations and feedback
  • Work with more experienced coaches to improve their skills and leadership
  • Identify mechanisms for training new staff both in-person and virtually

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related engineering field, or equivalent experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Education with a STEM focus
  • Experience teaching in either formal or after-school education, both a plus
  • Experience coaching educators or instructors
  • Knowledge of object oriented programming principles and practical knowledge of designing and developing computer programs.
  • Culturally oriented and experienced in engaging with underrepresented populations
  • Enthusiasm for teaching educators or leading professional development
  • Experience with high school 
  • Experience with teaching (incl. teaching assistant) "Intro to Programming" or developing Intro to Programming courses
  • Experience with maker spaces, tinkering, innovation labs, design thinking, and project-based learning
  • Familiarity with constructivist pedagogy
