Senior Instructional Designer in Atlanta GA

POSITION: Senior Instructional Designer
DURATION: 2+ months (W2 Contract)
RATE: $54.50 per hour


The Senior Instructional Designer (contract) is responsible for the successful analysis of training needs, as well as, the design and development of educational dealership operations training courses and materials for internal employees and external clients. Develop assigned courses, determine learning objectives, design and develop materials for an instructor-led environment. Will have proficiency in rapid instructional design tools (software) and processes (theories and models) as well as adult learning theory and experience writing learning objectives and assessments using multiple levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy and Kirkpatrick’s Model. The Senior Instructional Designer will build and maintain strong relationships with the other internal instructional design teams by collaborating and sharing best practices on creative/innovative delivery methods, i.e., engaging and interactive exercises, use of technology, etc.

Key activities of the Senior Instructional Designer include analysis of learning needs, design, and development of effective and engaging instructor led courses and materials that can be converted to virtual content later. In addition, he or she will be responsible for coaching and mentoring Instructional Designers and dealership operations SMEs on design and delivery best practices, innovation, and adult learning industry standards as appropriate.

Position Responsibilities:

Analyze, design and develop technologically appropriate, innovative, and engaging retail/dealership operations training curriculum and materials

Able to conduct a needs assessment and analyze the training needs of stakeholders to develop accurate and measurable learning objectives
Able to create cutting edge curriculum and supporting participant and facilitator guides
Ability to effectively use technology to create innovative, engaging, and interactive learning materials
Partner closely with multiple cross-company SMEs to ensure business needs are met and training strategy is aligned with learning deliverables
Develop and manage a dealership operations internal online library of best practices, job aids, templates, graphics, courses, chunk content, etc.

Maintain knowledge of adult learning theory and industry standards

Consistently seeks to improve learning materials through innovation, advancements in blended/eLearning industry, and other opportunities for improvement
Attends adult learning conferences and is a forward thinker

Serve as leader and mentor to other Instructional Designers and Retail/Dealership Operations SMEs

Implement and manage templates and adult learning development and delivery standards
Be a student of the automotive industry


Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, or related field preferred and/or sufficient on-the-job experience
5+ years of Instructional Design experience
Knowledge of the automotive industry and/or dealership operations is a strong plus but not a must
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and occasionally work flexible hours
Proven experience analyzing needs, designing, and developing innovative learning deliverables for in-class (PowerPoint presentations, participant and facilitator guides), blended, virtual, self-paced, and gamification delivery methods
Experience with and ability to create educational audio and video, including script writing and storyboarding
Demonstrable advanced communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
Demonstrated proficiency with graphic design for learning (documentation, presentations, participant and facilitator guides, job aids, self-paced modules, etc.)
Proficiency with technology suites such as MS Office, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia Studio, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), WebEx, and Learning Management Systems
