A Instructional Designer job in Austin, TX is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of Austin’s largest engineering companies to develop web-based learning courses and design instructional materials.
New graduates with a technical writing background are encouraged to apply. You will need to have prior experience in designing online course materials.

Responsibilities:
• Apply instructional design models (ADDIE, rapid prototyping, etc.) to design and develop learner-centered web-based and instructor-led courses.
• Conduct needs analysis with SMEs/stakeholders to identify target learners, training gaps, and instructional goals.
• Schedule and conduct meetings with SMEs to collaborate on content design and development.
• Complete conceptual design, including writing learning objective/outcomes, determining course organization and outline, devising content strategies, planning assessments, and creating prototypes.
• Develop storyboards and content drafts – write instructional content, voiceover scripts, video scripts, assessments, and interactive activities.
• Project management – create timelines, schedule meetings with SMEs and stakeholders, request feedback, provide updates on progress.
• Document and share results at each phase of course development.
• Apply learning theories and strategies to increase engagement, retention, and mastery of learning outcomes.
• Evaluate existing courses and offer suggestions for improvement related to learning objectives alignment, content, and engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Produce web-based courses in e-learning development software (Captivate, Articulate, Presenter 360)
• Create interactive activities and assessments. Apply conditional configuration to create branched and controlled navigation/interactivity (e.g., triggers, if/then settings).
• Produce screen recordings and demonstrations using Camtasia; edit recordings and publish.
• Manage production of instructional videos – write outlines/scripts, work with participants, help direct filming.
• Manage assets and photography needed for courses.
• Publish courses in a variety of formats, including SCORM.
• File management of course and asset files on shared drives.
• Upload course content to learning management system (LMS); test courses; update courses; troubleshoot learner issues (e.g., failure to get credit).
• Familiarity with file formats of online courses (SCORM, video, Flash, PowerPoint).
• Analyze learner feedback provided in evaluations and implement changes based on feedback.
