OVERVIEW:
The (Senior) Investment Accounting Analyst applies and ensures the appropriate GAAP and Statutory accounting principles for investments and investment accounts. Under limited supervision, analyze and report on all functions of investments, including: Management Discussions and Analysis, preparation and review of investment footnotes, investment surveys, annual statement reporting and statutory audited financial statements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyzes investment process flow through assessment of current systems, considering information inputs and outputs, to ensure adequate controls are developed and documented to ensure that all investment transactions are properly accounted for and all questions and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Performs accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual reports (GAAP & STAT) for assigned asset and investment accounting areas. Ensures compliance with GAAP and NAIC guidelines. Prepares and/or reviews GAAP reporting disclosures. Also, reviews the investment pages of annual statement, including footnote disclosures and the general interrogatories, statutory audited financial statements and other supplemental information as needed.
Coordinates and summarizes investment information for internal and external examiners.
Researches, reviews and analyzes investment data/reports, provides solutions to resolve issues, and prepares reports.
Provides support to Executive Director, as needed, including special projects and indirect supervision of Investment Accounting Analysts.
Maintains working relationships with external contacts which includes investment advisors, investment accounting managers, banks, NAIC, external/internal examiners and with internal departments.
Ensures that current processes of reporting investments are effective and efficient, and makes recommendations for improvement.


REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-8+ years of Accounting or Auditing Experience (STAT,GAAP, GAAS)
- Must have advanced STAT (Statutory Accounting) or GAAP Experience
- Experience with Investment Accounting
- Strong Financial Reporting Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
- CPA preferred; Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance is a plus
