LOCATION: Birmingham, AL
DURATION: 3 months (Contract)
HOURS: To be determined with candidate
PAY RATE: $16.75/hr

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
The HR Assistant provides strong HR support to the division inclusive of all projects and initiatives relating to the administration of the human capital of our business. Primary role will be auditing personnel files.

Responsibilities:



Coordinates and administers HR project and needs for HR team.
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, supports various human resource plans and projects.
Assists in new hire processing to include orientations; offer letters, completion of new-hire forms and legally required work authorization process, explanation of company policies and procedures, and oversees the preparation of employee ID and door entry badges.





Assists in the recruitment of Non-Exempt employees, both internal and external through temporary agency’s. Recruitment process includes posting of positions for candidates; manage application collection, review, and processing; assist in interview process when requested or necessary; follow-up, as needed. This is done in cooperation with the supervisors/managers of the positions.
Assists with Employee Events by organizing employee activities, provides optimum use of company recreation funds, and by assisting in the administration of employee reward programs.
Enters and maintains Human Resources related data (e.g. new hire, training, personal, reviews) into the HRIS and other internal database systems including monitoring the Badge Access System.
Assists employees with problem resolution, interprets human resources policies and procedures and assists in administering paid and unpaid-time off options as needed.
Supporting the HR Manager in timely and organized maintenance of employee files, I-9 binders, updating of employees’ personal information, timely training data entry and preparation of New Hire packets.
Ensures HR related forms are available for Managers and Supervisors as needed.
Maintains and creates HR forms.
Act as resource for staff at all levels for HR related issues.
Assists with special projects as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred in a related discipline.

Requirements:



Prior internship experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations administration or realted field preferred
Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Visio, Publisher.
Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, including COBRA, FMLA and HIPAA.
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, general public; ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; ability to understand and follow instructions.
Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of employees and management; ability to find and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies and procedures to employees and management.
While performing the duties of this job, it may be required to stand, walk, or sit occasionally for long periods of time. It may also be required to use hands or fingers to handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (seek assistance for greater amounts).
Specific vision abilities required, include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level is usually moderate.
May be exposed to Hazardous materials. Consult MSDS in work area.
Protective equipment is required, as indicated by area procedure.
