Lab Technician- Swing Shift-3:00PM-11:30PM


Adecco-Medical & Science is looking for Medical-Lab techs for one of our leading client in Palo Alto, CA.
This will be swing shift from 3:00PM- 11:30PM

Contract- 2-4Months
Pay Rate- $28/ Hour

Job Description:

-Under the direct supervision of the supervisor, is responsible for accessioning, receiving and specimen processing.
-Completes assignments with accuracy and in a timely manner without comprising the quality of the patient sample.
-Exercises good judgment in recognizing and correcting irregularities and/or unusual requests. Performs other miscellaneous duties or special projects as assigned.
-Complies with all aspects of the job according to written procedure.

Essential Duties and Job Functions (All Areas).
-Answers telephone, responds to inquiries in a polite and efficient manner.
-Receives samples via couriers, FedEx, or other laboratory personnel.
-Deals with patient's samples in an appropriate and efficient manner, distributing to the appropriate area of the laboratory as necessary according to procedure. Accessions patient information accurately into laboratory computer system. C
-Checks all requests for proper and accurate patient information.
-Consults with Supervisor, Lead or Technologist when unclear or unusual requests received.
-Recognizes problems or requests which require Supervisor and/or Technologist assistance when appropriate.
-After processing of samples is complete distributes accordingly, ensuring that samples are routed to appropriate areas in the laboratory. Distributes STAT requests in a timely as well as appropriate manner.
-Keeps work areas well stocked with necessary supplies and notifies appropriate personnel when inventory levels are low.
-Must keep all work areas clean and dispose of all waste appropriately.
-Keeps current with all laboratory procedures, techniques and changes.
-Follows all departmental policies regarding attendance, punctuality and health and safety.
-Communicates with other laboratory staff in a cooperative and courteous manner.
-Responds to their needs appropriately with minimal waiting time.
-Understands patient care and laboratory priorities and independently assists others to ensure efficient workflow.
-Report promptly to supervisor or Lead any abnormal circumstances with equipment, machinery or other problems that may exist in a prompt manner. Maintains all logs, records and data etc. in a legible and precise manner.
-Prepares and packages samples for sending out to other lab locations, ensuring that all paperwork has been properly filled out and is accurate and legible.
-Must be able to rotate through all areas of department as required including, specimen receiving, accessioning, and spin/aliquot. Must be able to maintains inventory of supplies and keep area stocked as required.

Qualifications (All Areas)
-High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of various nontechnical needs of a laboratory, usually acquired from a combination of previous work experience and/or schooling.
-Ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of professional, technical and nontechnical staff required.
-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
-The ability to communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing is required.
-One to two years-previous laboratory experience preferred.
