1. Manage Department Schedules for ED Reg, Main Admitting & Outpatient Surgery Center
2. Perform on-call duties for ED Reg, Main Admitting & Outpatient Surgery Center
3. Manage staff timecards which involves approving or denying shift trades, shift giveaways & PTO Requests
4. Review and QA accounts processed by registration staff
5. Run and complete various reports to ensure proficient billing

Must have AA degree or graduation from a trade/technical college with an emphasis in healthcare or a combination of related education and experience.
What software skills are needed: Type atleast 40 wpm. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications especially excel.

This position is responsible for supervising, monitoring and managing the daily operations of the Patient Registration (Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency) Department with a focus on the PM and nightshifts. The incumbent has the skills and abilities to act as a relief to the Site Manager in their absence. Assist in the Quality Improvement activities; assists in implementing and monitoring adherence to policies, procedures, standards, and objectives to provide the maximum level of quality and timely service to internal and external customers. Participates in recruitment and selection of new hires, department orientation, training and counseling of staff; in conjunction with the Site Manager, completes and processes probationary and scheduled appraisals for individual staff evaluations. The Patient Registration Department registers all patients for services by collecting, processing and documenting vital information as a service to patients, physicians, nursing, ancillary departments, Patient Financial Services and insurance payers. This position is responsible for training, coordinating, scheduling and supervising the Patient Registration Department, with the goal of providing superior customer service and obtaining maximum reimbursement for services. This position requires awareness and understanding of changes in federal and state regulations and the ability to revise procedures and processes accordingly. Promptly communicating these changes to staff through continual training processes is essential to maintaining high performance and meeting time requirements. Interfacing regularly with other units and departments within the hospital ensures that communication is shared with registrars as well as nursing and case management to gather needed information for maximum reimbursement. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring effective communication among staff in order to promote consistency of operations and compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedure to assure continuity of communications between all shifts. This position is also responsible for interviewing and hiring applicants, evaluating employee performance, providing discipline and counseling staff. The incumbent is responsible for compiling and reviewing various statistics pertaining to the department and for staying abreast of all changes in regulatory and hospital policies and procedures as well as insurance and financial policies and procedures. Other related duties include establishment and revision of department policy and procedures as well as training materials ensuring consistency and standardization across the service area. The incumbent must be familiar with the Joint Commission, EMTALA, state and other regulatory requirements relating to registration and reimbursement and have the ability to interpret and apply these standards for staff, vendors, outside review organizations, and other hospital departments. This position is also required to monitor staff productivity and quality, develop and recommend changes in procedure and work assignments, and review and approve time cards for department personnel. The incumbent must also develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with the medical and nursing staffs, Patient Financial Services, third party payers and other external bodies as well as interface effectively with other hospital departments to facilitate problem solving and the exchange of information promoting a spirit of teamwork. Positions reporting to this title may include but not limited to Patient Registration Reps, Financial Counselors, or other clerical related positions. Major Challenges: The major challenges to this position are to ensure timely and accurate registrations, to facilitate proper billing and maximum reimbursement and to supervise, direct and schedule staff to meet the needs of the department and the appropriate shift. This position is continually challenged to seek out new methods of streamlining and improving the workflow and efficiency of registration. To continually educate and reeducate the staff on changing requirements and legal entities governing the registration process. Freedom to Act: This position has the accountability and authority to interview and hire applicants, evaluate and counsel staff, approve overtime, order supplies, and handle appropriate disciplinary matters. This position has the authority to approve time cards and PTO requests and can evaluate and effectively recommend the termination of staff. In addition, this position recommends changes in procedures and work assignments and monitors department quality and productivity. Decisions are submitted to the manager regarding performance appraisals, counseling, warning or termination of employees.
