Legal Assistant

Duration: 6 months, possible temp to perm
Pay Rate: Up to $17.00 per hour, depending on candidate experience
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics; coordinating case preparation
  • Conserves attorney time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications.
  • Coordinates preparation of charts, graphs, and preparing expense reports.
  • Maintains attorney calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, dispositions, and travel.
  • Maintains client and company confidence by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains office supplies by checking stocks; placing and expediting orders; evaluating new products.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 2+ years as a legal assistant or administrator familiar with litigation/legal matters
  • Experience with the reorganization of corporate documentation, entities, and structures, as well as the ability to rationalize corporate document policy, storage and management
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Organizational skills key
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of Windows 7 or higher
