Position Summary:

 
 

Works under the general guidance of the Lead Chef to prepare meals (breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday) for employees and prepares food for special events, in and outside of the premises.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with published menu and recipes provided
  • Maintain awareness of nutrition, appeal, and cost; avoid waste
  • Prepare special request meals, when ordered
  • Ability to work on both “hot” and “cold” stations, preparing a range of entrees and side dishes
  • Coordinate work with other cooks; assist other stations when need arises
  • Availability to cook for special events which may be scheduled outside normal working hours

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three years as line cook in restaurant, private club, or corporate dining environment and banquet style service.
  • Ability to read recipes and scale to appropriate number of servings
  • Knowledge of sanitation code and food safety regulations
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Current knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, presentation, and  sanitation
  • Able to contribute ideas for contemporary preparation and presentation of food
  • Catering experience a plus

This is a TEMPORARY assignment lasting from June 11th-July 9th in Downtown LA (public transportation strongly encouraged, as parking is expensive in DTLA.) Full-time, Mon-Fri, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, $15/hour
