Adecco is searching for experienced candidates in the logistics management field of high risk food manufacturing in Ayer MA.  This is a first shift position with overtime.  Weekends will be mandatory during busy seasons.

Responsibilities include:

-Maintain all freight databases in support of Logistics decision-making and strategy development.
-Participate in negotiations with carriers regarding rates, service, contracts and operational issues.
-Participate in developing transportation strategies.
-Coordinate all operational transportation functions to insure customer satisfaction and on time deliveries in the most economical way.  Make independent decisions regarding appropriate, cost-effective transportation modes, carriers and priorities for:
Ayer outbound to customers
Customer returns
Supplier inbound / returns
Perform all necessary system transactions and submit all reports required.
Research and respond to customer claims.

-With Dir., Supply Chain, develop, analyze, and coordinate transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and optimize cost.
-Make independent strategic and real-time decisions in carrier selection, routing and operational changes impacting customer service.
-Insure that transportation operations remain within budgetary guidelines.  Assist in establishing and managing budgets.
-Develop strategies and select TL and LTL carriers will be used to provide customer satisfaction, on time deliveries, and optimize cost structures.
-Negotiate freight rates and verify carrier invoices for correct freight charges; log on shipment/invoice database. Constantly source opportunities to reduce overall freight rate.
-Coordinate transportation for all manufacturing, distribution centers and designated co-pack facilities.
-Interface with Master Scheduling / Customer Service & Shipping department to determine daily truck requirements and develop schedules where required.
-Receive, audit, approve / modify carrier invoices, perform G/L cost allocation, enter into Weekly and Master Freight Logs for processing and historical purposes; act as a liaison with third party freight payment company.
-Follow up with carriers for daily pick up and deliveries.
-Maintain current preferred carrier contact and rate information.
-Schedule carrier pickups.
-Verify all the daily trucks are scheduled - confirm all shipments daily and confirm all non-Ayer shipments
-Prepare export documentation as required and provide advance notification for border crossing.
-Provide Load Plans to Warehouse.
-Communicate order load status with Customer Service and provide load sheets to customer service.
-Provide POD's as required.
-File documentation as necessary and maintain current insurance files and operating authority papers for all carriers.
anage all parcels shipping and manifesting.
-Provide assistance to warehouse Administrative Assistant and/or other assigned personnel.

-Maintain effective GMP practices throughout all areas of warehousing and shipping.

Knowledge and Skills:

-Excellent interpersonal, analytical / problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
-Familiarity with computer (ERP/DRP/WMS) systems. 
-Computer proficiency in a Windows-based environment, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.  

Education and Experience:

-Three to five years experience in logistics function, preferably in a food and beverage industry
-AS degree in business or related field preferred
