Machine Shop Team Lead

Great opportunity for a Machine Shop Lead! Are you someone who is a great leader overseeing a diverse and inclusive team? Do you have a background working with a company who practices lean manufacturing? Do you have 5+ years of CNC operations and programming experience?

Our client is looking for a Lead who will assist in managing operational issues to ensure the most effective/efficient product flow through the area.

Responsibilities:

Ensures department is run effectively with priority on safety, quality and production.
Leads MDI board meetings and activities.
Supports the interview & selection processes of new team members.
Assumes additional leadership role whenever the department value stream manager is out.
Assigns work schedules.
Adheres to all Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities, including participation in accident investigations.
Assures the Quality of all products produced meets or exceeds standards.
Promotes problem solving throughout the department.
Works with continuous improvement group to facilitate improvements and streamline processes.
Ensures all employees have tools and supplies needed to perform the jobs in their areas.
Troubleshoots machine, process, product, and people issues.
Audits daily 5S activities and champions process for the department.
Ensures that Daily Performance Metrics are communicated and met.
Completes Team Leader Development Program (TLDP) and additional online or on-site courses as deemed necessary by Department Manager.
Other duties as assigned.


Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma and 5-10 years of Operations experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated change management skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team.
Familiar with utilizing Lean philosophy, and pull-based inventory systems
Language skill: Read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, blueprints, drawings, etc. Able to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations.
Good interpersonal skills and able to interact positively and work in a team environment.
Self-motivated and willing to change priorities as needed.
Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities for personal and job development.
