Our Client located in Hobart, is in need of a Machinist!
Pay Rate: $20.00-$24.00
To maintain and improve plant mechanical systems combined with mechanical and electrical machinery repair in order to provide a high degree of safety, quality and productivity. Typical activities include (but are not limited to): machine component repair/troubleshooting; installation or rearrangement of new or existing equipment/systems.
The function of the machinist is to support the maintenance department in the fabrication of various mechanical parts with the help of different machining tools such as a lathe, milling, grinders and other typical machine shop equipment. Those parts will be placed as spare parts in inventory or immediately installed on production equipment. Assignments include: responding to equipment emergencies; performing mechanical PMs during operation or during periods of scheduled downtime; communicating routinely with line personnel and supervision to maintain knowledge of the latest production schedule; communicating potential equipment problems to production and maintenance supervisors to allow scheduling of repairs; looking for options for implementing equipment and system improvements. Requires blueprint knowledge and mechanical abilities to take equipment/machines apart to perform necessary repairs/upgrade.
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
• Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures
• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting dimensions and tolerances.
• Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing requests for stock orders.
• Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
• Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Basic CNC Operator Machinist Skills and Qualifications
• 3 years as an industrial machinist
• Demonstrated ability to machine and fabricate tooling components primarily with steel
• Hands on equipment troubleshooting and problem resolution independently as well as in a team environment
• Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Judgment
• Demonstrated ability to work within a Team Environment

• Certification in Industrial Machining strongly recommended
• High School (GED) required, work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
