This is a direct hire opportunity at a Food Distribution plant in Hiram, Ohio.


This role will work primarily on the off-shifts but will have flexibility on hours to supervisor department as needed.  There is a current off-shift supervisor who is moving to 1st shift so between the 2 supervisors and the department manager they will support 25-30 maintenance employees across all 3 shifts. (some on 8 hour 5 day schedules and others on rotating 12 hour schedules).   


Hours: This role will have flexibility to pick hours. The current 2nd shift supervisor typically works 10am – 7pm.  Keep in mind supporting employees working on off-shifts on either 8 hour or 12 hour schedules.  The 8 hour schedules run 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm, 10pm – 6am.  The 12 hour schedules rotate 3 days on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off working either 5am – 5pm or 5pm – 5am (only rotates days, not shifts).


 Communicate and work with Production and other departments to address issues/problems with operating systems.
 Deploy and utilize maintenance employees to ensure effective and efficient operation.
 Ensure maintenance personnel are cross trained on equipment.
 Monitor and implement department work habits in compliance with good GMPs.
 Coordinate and schedule work orders and necessary maintenance personnel.
 Identify reoccurring equipment breakdowns and develop methods and modifications to prevent downtime.
 Troubleshoot plant systems as necessary.
 Monitor the preventative maintenance program to make sure equipment is serviced with its recommended time frame.
 Contact contractors to schedule repairs and installations.
 Research price and availability of new and replacement parts.
 Ensure that upgrades are performed on existing equipment.
 Install new software and/or machine codes.
 Schedule down time to repair machinery.
 Handle emergency repairs during production.


 Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and/or commensurate experience.
 Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
 3 years of maintenance experience and/or training or more.
 Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
 Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
 Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
 Ability to read/understand electrical/mechanical drawings.

 Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
 3 years of food manufacturing experience or more.
 Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems / PSM.

 Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with a temperature range from 30 – 100 degrees F.
 Various types of PPE are required to prevent exposure to hazardous materials, to reduce the risk of injury, and/or to protect
the quality of our product.
 Frequent lifting, transporting, and staging of material that weighs up to 55 pounds from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder,
or shoulder-to-overhead.
 Frequent pushing/pulling of material on carts.
 Work is performed in a variety of areas, at different heights, where it may be necessary to ascend/descend stairs & ladders.
