Manager - Financial Planning & Analysis

Adecco is hiring for one of the World's Most Iconic Children's Book Publishing companies in the heart of Soho.

A mission driven organization also known as a Media and Education company has a need for a Manager FP&A, Corporate Finance with 5-10 years’ experience, reporting to  the Director of FP&A. Must have to strong excel skills, Oracle Fusion/Oracle Cloud a plus as it is what they use, but SmartView/Essbase would be ok too. Must have a good understanding of cash flow. This person will be consolidating and pulling data to understand the drivers of the cash flow. 

Position Overview — Basic Functions and Responsibility

The primary objectives of this position are:

  1. Corporate FP&A
    1. Ensure our view of the financial performance of the business is accurate and current.
    2. Oversee the management of the capital budgeting process to ensure we maximize return on investment.
    3. Focus on the analysis and oversight of Inventory.
    4. Have a firm understanding of company results on a monthly basis and use that knowledge to inform Free Cash Flow and P&L reporting and analysis.
    5. Use understanding of company results to provide analysis of forecasts and budgets.
    6. Assist Director, FP&A in annual operating plan and quarterly forecasts.


Essential Job Responsibilities/Primary Activities: (Please summarize the 4-8 main responsibilities/accountabilites of the position. List responsibilities in the order of importance and time spent. If possible, provide the general percentage of time spent on each responsibility.)

Specific job duties include:

  1. Corporate FP&A
    1. Coordinate and prepare the financial reports for the quarterly Board of Director’s report. Prepare all necessary analysis and gather all required analysis from across the company.
    2. Prepare Free Cash Flow analysis for actuals, forecasts and budgets. Have a firm understanding of what drives movements in these accounts and how the P&L activity affects the balance sheet. Work with divisions to analyze their data to create a holistic analysis of the company’s Free Cash Flow.
    3. Assist in the coordination and planning of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets as required and perform related variance analysis for appropriate business segments. Create all reports necessary for each budget and forecast cycle.
    4. Assist in validation of monthly CFO report.
    5. Track capital and prepublication spending. Have full ownership of capital process, updating information as necessary throughout the budget and forecast cycles.
    6. Perform analysis and reporting of Inventory.
    7. Manage and update inventory of financial reports for internal management. Fully responsible for ensuring reports are accurate and work correctly. Be alert to changes to the chart of accounts and proactively test reports for functionality and accuracy.
  2. Special Projects
    1. Determine methodology of rate card for each Overhead group with consensus between Corporate Finance and Overhead leadership. Manage department against rate card metrics.
    2. Utilize Oracle Financials to streamline processes within the Overhead groups.

  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Must be able to meet schedules and firm deadlines.
  • Must be able to work across all levels of management with a focus on interacting with senior management across the company. Create strong working relationships with senior leadership.
  • Proficient in MS Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Must be proficient in Smartview reporting – creating ad hoc reports as required and managing existing inventory of reports.
  • Be able to adapt to change. This position has interaction across the company and changes will frequently occur which will impact their work. The Manager will need to be able to find solutions without disruption to timing of deliverables. This requires proactive planning.
  • Should be able to work independently and offer solutions to problems as they arise.
