Manager of Commissions

The Commissions Manager primarily functions as the leader of the Commissions Team as well as a resource in support of the team in all aspects of calculating registered representatives (RRs) commission compensation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Subject Matter Expertise

Act as commissions system expert on calculations, tables, processes and other components within the commissions system
Oversee the investment banking data upload and release process; evaluates and implements process improvements
Ensure commission calculations comply with RR agreements; manages all exceptions to RR agreements
Assist and guide lower level Commissions Associates
Perform other duties related to departmental success as assigned

Relationship Management

Act as a point of escalation for junior team members and field customers
Train and guide both end users and junior team members on how to use the commissions system
Ensure quality Tier II customer service support is being provided to RRs and employees, and ascertains junior team members are managing requests in an effective, timely manner; takes corrective action when warranted

Controls & Reconciliations

Validate the addition of new RRs and their commissions grids to commissions system based on signed RR agreements; interpret and create pay schedules within the commissions system
Work directly with Development Team on special information requests; Regulatory and internal
Ensure best practices from both time/work flow and oversight perspectives are utilized at all times
Implement necessary procedures and controls to accurately and efficiently validate all aspects of the commissions system and workflow



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Education: College degree required or equivalent work experience
· Licenses: FINRA Series 99, (May be obtained within 90 days of employment)
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years directly related experience as either a Broker, Sales Assistant or Back Office Commissions Specialist


KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates ability to lead and act as point person for junior staff
Knowledge of FINRA Regulatory rules and the securities industry as it relates to the position
Familiarity with office and accounting technology systems, procedures, and process requirements
Strong familiarity with financial services industry concepts
Highly organized and proactive including the ability to consistently meet deadlines
Strong problem resolution skills
The ability to overcome obstacles in a cooperative, professional, and respectful fashion
Demonstrates team-oriented skills including the fostering of harmonious relations with all customers; both internal and external to the team
