Qualified candidates for this role will be bilingual in Spanish, as the selected candidate will oversee Customer Engineering for our client's Latin American operation. A background in Mechanical Engineering, New Product Development, and Supplier Quality Management will also be heavily preferred. The Manager, Customer Engineering will also need to be well versed in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Duties and Responsibilities


Supervises “Customer engineering” for Latin America:

Disciplinary: All Engineers in this department located in Charlotte Office
Functionally: All engineers in this function related to Region LA
Responsible for adaptation development within the predefined standards in order to plan and realize technical customer solutions in the region after having assessed their technical necessity.
Responsible for project drawings to support the quotation and adaptation development
Assists in the further development of the product range and the analysis and processing of claims
Reviews the technical feasibility of complex special tasks
Coordinates all customer engineers and drawers in the region
Assist global engineering team with the development and implementation of new products into the Latin American Markets.

Communicate verbally and in writing using English and technical Spanish. Will have broad scope of contact with associated personnel inside and outside the company at various levels including Engineering, Sales, vendors, Sister Companies and end users.
Provide “in-house” technical support to “Customer Service” Representatives, Quote Analysts, Order Management, Field Service Personnel, Area Sales Managers, Operations and other Big Dutchman departments with his knowledge on technical issues as required.
Maintain contact with Global engineering and Product management to stay current on equipment changes and installation techniques.
Liaison between the Poultry, Egg & Pig Engineering groups to maintain standardized processes and implement continuous improvement.
Training of current and new engineers
Visit Customers as needed to investigate/resolve field concerns and to provide technical assistance to Field Service and Sales Managers. Required engagement with After Sales Service Department to provide technical assistance and continuous product improvement.
Product Development visits, as required, to:

Provide technical assistance for installation and trouble shooting
Collect data on new products
Collect Integrator & Grower feedback on functionality of new products
Supplier visits, as required, to:

Provide technical assistance regarding the manufacture of Big products
Engage in Supplier Quality Management











Communication with Purchasing Department in regards to:

Quote packages for new products
Cost reduction existing products
Create and update regional Bills of Material & Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s).
Recommend changes in procedures, standards and guidelines as needed.
Coordinate and perform product field testing with the support of Global engineering.
Support all offices in the region as well as training and development programs.
Other projects as assigned





Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree.
2-4 years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering position.
Experience with motors, gearboxes and their applications.
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
Knowledge of Quality practices preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluent in English and Spanish
PC Literate (Excel, Word and Power Point)
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily work schedule under minimal supervision

*This position requires about 40% travel, some of which will be international to Latin America and Germany.
