Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor directs the overall module operations ensuring the achievement of production objectives at a competitive cost consistent with the company quality standards and customer delivery requirements.

What you will do:

  • Acts as a safety leader and ensure safety first in all responsibilities. Work with the Director - EHSS to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.  Complies with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards, and customer specification and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the training and on boarding of new employees in the processes, standard operating procedures and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for safety, quality, and productivity.  Maintain training matrixes in Access.
  • Participate in planning meetings with engineering to ensure successful launch of new products.
  • Ensure quality standards are being followed.
    Maintains staff by interviewing, hiring, on boarding, orienting, and training employees. Build a talent pipeline for your teams.
  • Recommend preventative maintenance procedures and plan the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems, and assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, such as time cards, quality records, daily audits and PM’s, etc.
  • Drive and lead the Continuous Improvement and Lean Programs.  Ensure the Daily Direction Setting (DDS) boards are up to date.  Be responsible for adhering to the company’s goal of supporting and driving positive results through the continuous improvement efforts.  Ensure DDS boards are up to date at all times.
  • Approve vacation schedules.
  • Enforce Safety Expectations and Life Saving Rules.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments or modules.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor inspection equipment to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Conduct employee training on equipment operations or work and safety procedures.  Assign employees to train with experienced workers.
  • Complete daily audits and preventative maintenance items.
  • Conduct employee probationary and eight-month performance reviews.
  • Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities - Manage Team Leaders and Manufacturing Technicians.

    Education and/or experience:

    This position requires a high school diploma or HSED/GED Equivalent.  Must possess good computer skills and be able to learn new skills as needed.  This position requires six to twelve months of training.

    Communication skills:

    Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instruct or train lesser skilled employees.  Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as part drawings, shop orders, work plans, and short correspondence.  Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.

    Other skills and abilities:

    Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include computer, various precision measuring devices and lifting devices.  Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices.  Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable quality standards and policy requirements.
