Role Summary/Purpose 

The Marketing and Events Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day and events operations for GE Ventures’ innovation space.  He or she will act as “the face” of the space, and will be responsible for guests’ end-to-end experience, including planning of events, execution and breakdown.


GE Ventures’ Innovation space opened in September 2017, and is located in Menlo Park, CA.  The space was designed to foster innovation, and will act as a connection point between GE / GE Ventures and the external innovation ecosystem.  The space will host a wide variety of events ranging from thought leadership convenings to industry networking events to GE innovation forums. In addition to support of GE Ventures’ innovation space this candidate will support the broader GE Ventures marketing team and needs including: cross country event sourcing of vendors (hoteling, caterers, rentals, transportation), support with event registration, financial processing and payments as well as marketing communications needs.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Events:
    • Create operational “playbook” outlining standard operating procedures for all innovation space events
    • Manage event calendar & assist in prioritization of events
    • Liaise with GE Ventures team to understand event requirements; execute on these requirements
    • Set up/break down events; includes ensuring promotional materials / graphics are present, greeting guests as they arrive, and handling all event logistics
    • Organize all logistics (facility, catering, materials, LMS etc.) linked to events/activations
    • Communicate information to attendees and address their queries in a timely manner, utilizing online event and scheduling tools
    • Be an ambassador for GE in the region
    • Manage vendors & procurement process (adding to new vendors, payments, reconciliations) in a timely and compliant manner
    • Manage internal financial processes (billing to participants, accruals, other reporting) in a timely and compliant manner
    • Leverage existing tools and resources to accurately record and track completion of key performance indicators
    • As a key member of the events team; provide insights into improving participant experiences, simplifying processes and supporting effective and efficient delivery of executions  
  • Day-to-day Operations:
    • Conduct tours of space for a wide variety of audiences
    • Ensure space is fully stocked with office supplies, food/drinks, etc.
  • Marketing Support:
    • Financial processing for Marketing related projects - Process marketing financial transactions for key partner engagements and for marketing programs as identified by the CMO
    • Support other GE marketing initiatives and programs as needed.



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a self-starter
  • High level of organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with strong ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritizing tasks
  • Resourceful and can find a way to make things happen
  • Flexible and quick approach to event challenges
  • Results focused, with a strong track record of execution
  • Established analytical and project management ability
  • Excellent organization, follow-up skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Experience supporting teams within the Marketing/Sales functions
