Material Handlers

Adecco is currently seeking an experienced Material Handler for a 1st shift opening in Groveport, OH! The hours will be M-Th or Tu-F 7am-5:30pm, with a pay rate of $14/hr! This is a temp to hire position, and the job description is as follows:


Operate within the material handling department of the distribution center.  Perform assigned duties associated with the receiving, putaway and replenishment functions of material handling according to a rotating schedule.  Support all other departments within the distribution center as necessary based on demand and business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Safely open container of product using bolt cutters or grinder.
  • Manually maneuver and position conveyor belt in front of container being worked.
  • Transfer boxes of product from the container onto conveyor belt.  Identify like product to be thrown for stacking.  Place boxes on conveyor belt with the label facing toward scanning associate.
  • Communicate effectively with other associates working the truck to know how many boxes of like product to throw.
  • Scan the correct amount of product boxes based on the product count using an RF scan gun.
  • Lift boxes from conveyor belt and stack them onto a pallet in the specified arrangement required for that particular product type and box size.  Communicate with other associates on how to properly build a pallet of product.
  • Manually wrap pallets with plastic wrap to help ensure the load can safely be transported throughout the warehouse.
  • Safely and effectively operate a forklift to move stacked pallets from the receiving dock to put away area.
  • Effectively navigate the warehouse management system via the RF scan gun to determine where the pallet of product goes in the warehouse.
  • Using a rider reach truck, transport securely wrapped pallets from the put away area to quality control area for inspection; filling prime locations; and/or overstock locations.  Verify the product license plate matches the pallet; matching item number quantities.
  • Using a rider reach truck, transport securely wrapped pallets of product from the overstock location; filling prime locations; and/or drop product on floor in designated areas.  Verify the product license plate matches the pallet; matching item number quantities.  On partial replenishments, put away a securely wrapped pallet in the overstock location.
  • Maintain consistent and acceptable attendance, productivity, and quality standards.
  • Support and maintain an orderly and clean work environment through continuous cleaning efforts.
  • Support other departments in the warehouse as business dictates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




  • High School diploma or its equivalent.



  • One (1) year of experience as a material handler, forklift operator, shipping/receiving laborer, or in position similar in scope and responsibility is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience operating a forklift, reach truck, motorized pallet jack and stock picker is preferred. 




  • Basic reading comprehension and ability to interpret and carry-out directives.
  • Basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Understand basic computer operation and frequently used software programs.
  • Effectively operate, read, and interpret RF scanners and other similar equipment.
  • Safely and effectively operate powered industrial equipment; forklift, reach truck, electric pallet jack, stock picker, mobile wrapper & manual pallet jack.
  • Safely and effectively operate basic packaging tools and equipment (i.e. pallet truck, computer, printer, labeler, tape gun, razor knife, impulse sealer, basic hand tools, bolt cutters, grinder, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people.
  • Team-oriented attitude and focus with strong ability to collaborate with others.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in assigned tasks on a consistent basis.
  • Exhibit and maintain positive, solutions-oriented attitude toward work and co-workers.



  • Warehouse/distribution floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;
  • Exposure to varying temperatures while working in the dock area, and loading/unloading trucks;
  • Powered industrial equipment (i.e. forklifts, lift trucks, pallet jacks, etc.) frequent warehouse/distribution floor in and around common throughways.



Must be able to effectively perform the following on a frequent basis:

  • Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities;
  • Work at least 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed;
  • Communicate with others on a regular basis;
  • Move, sit, hear, discern, speak, and see;
  • Use finger dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, manipulate, and measure;
  • Frequently move about in warehouse, be in motion, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stoop, bend, and crouch;
  • Lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Remain upright and moving with minimal rest for up to ten (10) hours per day.
