Type:                      Fulltime (40 hours / week) Contract to Permanent

Length:                  6+ months

Pay:                        18.50 to 19.50 / HR

Shift/Hours:          8A – 5P



Responsibilities for this Payroll Specialist job include, but are not limited to:

  • Compile payroll data such as hours worked and incentive compensation earned; paid time off (PTO) and sick leave earned and taken; taxes, insurance, and other deductions to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
  • Enter data into Payroll; compiles payroll adjustments based on reviews of wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll and/or accruals.
  • Review changes affecting net wages such as withholding exemptions, insurance coverage, benefits-related data and other payroll deductions for employees.
  • Track and maintain Time and Attendance records for the employees in automated systems; includes maintaining PTO Accrual balances based on company policy.
  • Provide customer service to employees, supervisors/managers, agencies, and other departments as needed.
  • Process data for electronic transfer of payroll information to third-party payroll who prepares and issues paychecks; coordinates with Accounting Department for manual payroll checks as required.
  • Complete verification of employment reports for current and terminated employees.
  • Receive Garnishment paperwork and ensure all Garnishment data is provided to the Scanner to be scanned into the employees personnel file then submitted to OSV via Help Desk ticket to update the employee's information in the HR/Payroll system.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions. Compiles data from records and prepares reports, both regularly scheduled and as required.
  • Assist in processing bonus' paid under monthly Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) and other periodic bonus payments; downloads information, prints statements, forwards statements to individual employees.

Qualifications for this Payroll Specialist job:

  • MUST have previous experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be skilled in use of analytical tools including Excel
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
