We are currently recruiting for an Experienced NPI, Materials Program Manager for one of our premier Hi-Tech client in NE Portland.  This is a great opportunity to work for a growing company and contribute to their expanding success!  This company manufactures custom semiconductor equipment! This role will be DIRECT HIRE with the client. 


Incumbents interface with Business Office, Production, Procurement, Planning and customer to compile, develop, validate and communicate production/shipments plans that support overall business goals. Additional details below!


  • Coordinate with planning on customer requirements, changes, in order to assess costs and actual feasibility.
  • Supports new production introduction.
  • Participate in Master Planning review and procurement actions from MRP process.
  • In coordination with Business Office, negotiates with customer on behalf of SCM on any materials management related to such activity as schedules, costs and Engineering Change implementation.
  • Provides customer with technology information, supplier capabilities, and market trends to compliment SCM activities with customer.
  • Identify client’s SCM new product process requirements to the customer, and ensure all information is received and SCM processes initiated effectively.
  • Reviews all terms and conditions agreed to in the contract to assess SCM’s ability to meet these requirements.
  • Partners with Business Office in negotiating Terms and Conditions in relation to SCM activities with customer.
  • Plans for and procures materials necessary to meet manufacturing build requirements for one or several product lines. 
  • Plans and schedules timely material required for customer forecasts.
  • Determines material requirements from engineering and production schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials throughout the production cycle.
  • Reviews requisitions, contacts vendors, examines bids and initiates contracts.
  • Initiates purchases driven through MRP process.
  • Assess when to execute and what order to place based on other factors.  Pushes or cancels orders per production plans.
  • Reviews forecasted requirements and purchases materials in accordance with the forecast.
  • Ensures materials are available to meet manufacturing build requirements.
  • Investigates and resolves issues with invoices or suppliers.
  • Acts as a customer liaison with new product introduction.
  • Attends weekly change meetings with the customer.
  • Determines cut in of new design changes.




~Basic knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, materials and processes. 
~Basic knowledge of production planning fundamentals, scheduling, materials requirements planning techniques and manufacturing control systems
~Basic knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques and philosophies.
~Experience leading procurement functions using technical systems, data insights and key partnerships in the following areas: Strategic Inventory Planning, Supplier Management, Sourcing & Purchasing. Quality Assurance, Market Strategy, Schedule Management, Regulatory Compliance, Competitor Analysis and Cost Controls.

~Strong expertise in SAP MRP, ERP and Point Purchasing systems.
~Good analytical and statistical skills.
~Ability to plan strategically for the coordinated build and delivery of one or several products.
~Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
~Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
~Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.






Typical Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in end-to-end procurement, sourcing/negotiating/purchasing materials, products and services in Health Research and Chemical Manufacturing industries.


Typical Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination for education and experience.
