About the Project:

The Michigan Digitization Project focuses on taking published volumes and making them available for online use.  The project encompasses the digital scanning of books from libraries and publishers across North America and Europe and making them available online.  Our team has scanned over 20 Million books, accounting for roughly 80% of books available online through working with various partner libraries.  Our location in Ann Arbor, Michigan focuses on non-destructive book scanning by receiving books from area universities and libraries and returning them unharmed, so that they can be retained on-site and yet also be available across the globe! Using a system that was originally developed and is continually enhanced internally, the scanning process has been improving quality while increasing our scan throughput over the past decade.  This has allowed people to read and research — online — rare and out-of-publication books that previously would have been unavailable.
