Payroll Admin



Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and ensures the company payroll policies are in accordance with the government regulations. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks. Supervises Payroll Assistant. Key contact for payroll processing company (Kronos). Reports to Chief Financial Officer. This is an exempt position.




  • Performs daily payroll operations including all data entry of necessary changes in hours, rates of pay, taxes withholding, and employee deductions to process bi-weekly payroll for multiple locations and multiple companies.
  • Makes necessary pay adjustments to correct errors, administer wage garnishments, implement termination of employment payouts, etc.
  • Transmits payroll to payroll provider in a timely manner
  • Coordinates closely with Human Resources and Finance to work through issues and resolves concerns
  • Reconciling quarterly and annual Kronos tax filings, and ensure accurate W-2 reporting
  • Prepares bi-weekly
  • and/or ad hoc reports as needed or requested using established reporting systems (Labor distribution, HSA, 403B, Check register, Overtime)
  • Creates and maintains cost centers and cost allocations in payroll system as required.
  • Supervises and trains Payroll Assistant to be back up to Payroll Supervisor.
  • Ensures management is informed of potential payroll, employee relations or financial/tax related issues.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.


Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience. Previous experience with Kronos Workforce Ready or other payroll systems.
  • Must possess good detail orientation and organizational skills; a focus on accuracy with respect to employee paychecks is critical.
  • Possess demonstrated problem-solving skills as well as the ability to provide innovative solutions within the framework of tax and regulatory environments and drive issues to resolution.
  • Possess ability to work under high levels of demand while maintaining customer service orientation.
  • Proficient level of written/verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and develop business relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Good analytical, continuous improvement and process orientation skills.
  • Must be able to lead and coach others.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and their application in a financial setting. Ability to effectively develop and run reports using the payroll provider’s report writer is needed.
