Adecco staffing is assisting a local client in Burlington, VT  that is looking for a temporary Payroll and Benefits Specialist. In this role you will be responsible for assisting  with day to day operations of the people center functions and duties related to payroll and benefits department.  This role will carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: benefits administration, leave management, and payroll.  You will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the payroll function in order to process all payrolls and reports in an accurate and timely manner.   

 

Responsibilities for this Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

  • Managing the leave program including time off, disability, FMLA,  and worker’s compensation
  • Launch and assist with benefit integrations
  • Learn, maintain and run payroll, payroll calculations and other payroll related operations including domestic and international payrolls. 

  • Design, update and submit required payroll reports and files to multiple vendors and campus departments. 

  • Ensure payroll processes are in compliance with all Federal, and State and rules and regulations.

  •  Responsible for the administration of COBRA and Supplemental Life programs

  • Assist with annual open enrollment including communication, administration and elections.

  • Assist with new hire orentation including inventory of benefit related materials, assembly of kits, employee support, and presenting information at orientation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required. 
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in HR with a focus on payroll and benefits. 
  • Additional experience in HR operations, transactions, systems and project management preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, sound judgement and confidentiality with all information; excellent communication and interpersonal skills including oral and written communication. 
  • Demonstrated skills, talents and abilities in teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, thinking strategically while also tending to details and a focus on people and the customer.  Experience in payroll and payroll systems is required. 
  • The ability to learn new technology and systems quickly and apply them to daily tasks is essential.
