Payroll Services Specialist II Finance

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of hourly associates payroll.

Responsible for processing all off cycle checks and researching returned checks and reissuing timely.

Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of local, state, and/or federal pay and termination regulations.

Assist with special projects as needed under the supervision of Payroll Supervisor and/or Sr. Payroll Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Process and balance biweekly payrolls for all store hourly personnel.

Create manual check requests for termination pay, adjustment pay, or retro pay timely and within any respective state mandates. Process stop payments and research and reissue returned checks

Develop effective work relationships with the DM Admin and Store Management team to gain their trust and confidence.

Respond to all employee inquiries in a timely and effective manner.

Special projects as assigned Remain current on existing or new payroll guidelines, processes or any legislation impacting payroll.

COMPETENCIES:

Accuracy Dependability Customer Service Analysis and Judgment Credibility and Trust PeopleSoft background desirable

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Requires 2-4 years of payroll experience desired Must be able to maintain highest level of confidentiality for all employee payroll and personnel records Ability to provide excellent customer service while working with frequent interruptions in a fast paced environment, meeting deadlines and/or mandates and maintain effective communication with all internal and external contacts Strong organization skills, ability to set priorities Working knowledge of Word and Excel for Windows Strong communication skills both verbal and written Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus
