Payroll Services Specialist II Finance

GENERAL PURPOSE:

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of hourly associates payroll.
  • Responsible for processing all off cycle checks and researching returned checks and reissuing timely.
  • Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of local, state, and/or federal pay and termination regulations.
  • Assist with special projects as needed under the supervision of Payroll Supervisor and/or Sr. Payroll Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: % OF TIME
  • Process and balance biweekly payrolls for all store hourly personnel & Create manual check requests for termination pay, adjustment pay, or retro pay timely and within any respective state mandates - 20%
  • Process stop payments and research and reissue returned checks -20%
  • Develop effective work relationships with the DM Admin and Store Management team to gain their trust and confidence - 15%
  • Respond to all employee inquiries in a timely and effective manner-15%
  • Special projects as assigned - 15%
  • Remain current on existing or new payroll guidelines - 10%
  • Processes or any legislation impacting payroll - 5 %
COMPETENCIES:
  • Accuracy Dependability Customer Service Analysis and Judgment Credibility and Trust
  • PeopleSoft background desirable
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Requires 2-4 years of payroll experience 
  • Must be able to maintain highest level of confidentiality for all employee payroll and personnel records
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service while working with frequent interruptions in a fast paced environment
  • meeting deadlines and/or mandates and maintain effective communication with all internal and external contacts
  • Strong organization skills, ability to set priorities
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel for Windows Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus
