A Pharmacist job opportunity needs to be filled immediately by Adecco Medical & Science. This is a temporary opportunity for approx 1 month in Kernersville, NC. Experience with home infusion is required. Hours are 9a-5p Monday-Friday.

Infusion Pharmacist activities relate to prescription orders and interpretation, formulating, and dispensing of infusion and/or specialty drugs for sterile compounding and/or distribution. Pharmacist clinical activities include therapy assessment, care planning and medication reconciliation as they pertain to individual patients and the appropriate monitoring for effective care and positive patient outcome.


1. Reviews medication orders and evaluates appropriateness and completeness of orders with consideration given to the special needs and behaviors of the specific age group served. Verifies all prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or physician’s agent.
2. Provide oversight of the safety; appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provide to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensed.
3. Obtains patient specific prescription and assists prescriber as necessary in formulating prescriptions and monitoring regimen.
4. Enters medication orders into pharmacy operating system. Dispenses medications in an accurate and timely manner and in the appropriate quantities based on stability and needs of the patient.
5. Assesses the patient at the initiation of drug therapy, develops a patient care plan and drug monitoring regimen and monitors the patient according to the care plan throughout the course of therapy.
6. Communicates with prescribers in suggesting alternate or modified drug therapy programs that are the most cost effective.
7. Communicates with the patient, physician, nursing staff, other pharmacists and other members of the health care team regarding patient status, response to therapy and clinical objectives to ensure clinical outcomes are met.
8. Coordinates with nursing staff and patient to assure the most cost effective method of delivery is utilized to achieve expected outcomes
9. Ensures accurate and timely information is entered into pharmacy operating system for dispensing and billing.
10. Coordinates the drug preparation work of pharmacy technician as necessary. Checks the accuracy of all work prior to releasing any medication for distribution to a patient.
11. When required, compounds intravenous and specialty pharmaceuticals in an aseptic fashion according to established State Board of Pharmacy, Federal, USP?797? sterile guidelines and company policy.
12. Is familiar with, and strives to meet, various guidelines and recommendations as put forth by various governing bodies.
13. Completes accurate documentation of items compounded and/or repackaged.
14. Is knowledgeable of the proper use and handling of both sterile and hazardous medications. Compounds and handles sterile and hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations (i.e. USP ?797? and USP?800?).
15. Ensures compliance with all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all department policies and procedures.
16. Participates in department staff meetings and other functions required by the department. Including pharmacy Quality Control monitoring and branch Performance Improvement activity.
17. Maintains pharmacy license(s), meets continuing education and competencies as required by the appropriate State regulatory agency and department.
18. Complies with all applicable Federal, State pharmacy rules and regulations related to dispensing, controlled substances, etc.
19. Ensures that all manufacturer requirements for REMS and/or other requirements are met when dispensing and/or shipping drugs.
20. Provides indirect oversight of pharmacy technician and pharmacy support staff.


1. BS Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
2. Active pharmacist license in the state of the hiring branch, and in good standing. Must be able to obtain other state pharmacist license if requested and/or required by the company.
3. Ability to learn various pharmacy software operating systems.
4. Knowledgeable in various infusion related therapies and ability to work through the complexity of therapy related orders. Ability to fill medication orders accurately and in a timely manner.
5. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills and problem solving skills.
6. Demonstrate proficient clinical patient monitoring and be able to meet aseptic technique and sterile compounding skill requirements.
7. Preference of 3 years pharmacist experience in home infusion, hospital or related health care environment.
8. Must be able to take call after hours, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
